The Summer Solstice and The Sun Sign Cancer

The Summer Solstice happened on June 21, 2018. This is considered the first day of summer and the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. According to some Ancient Greek Calendars the Summer Solstice marked the New Year. Most of the ancient cultures identify the Summers Solstice with feminine principles, family and agriculture.

Midsummer festivities are popular in Northern Europe and girls wear flowers in their hair and bonfires are lit. Their homes are decorated with greenery as well. In parts of Scandinavia, they dance around Maypoles. Wiccans, New agers and Neopagans have Summer Solstice Celebrations throughout the Globe. Thousands gather each year at Stonehenge to celebrate the longest day of the year.

The beginning of summer also marks the beginning of Cancer Sun sign (June 21-July 23) which is a nurturing sign that embodies family, mother and home. Food, crops and nourishment are part of Cancer’s attributes. Family is first and foremost and children. Cancer people love the water and the water can be very healing for Cancerians. Cancer people are also very psychic and may be drawn to the occult. A lot of them don’t let others know what they know or keep it to themselves, just as they do with other matters. They are very private people. Finally, Cancer people remember the good and bad that has been done to them, emphasis on the bad, they can dwell. So, be kind and sensitive to those Cancerians in your life, they take a lot to heart so fill their hearts with joy and they will hold onto that for a long time.
