Taking back the control

Ever had that feeling of a small spark that has the potential to become a larger ember, then a single flame, and eventually a roaring fire? That fleeting idea that could be dismissed or acted upon, that job advert that you could ignore or apply for, that dream you could convince yourself will never happen or you could make a reality. The potential for change.

We're often told to be careful, to be sensible, to do the "right thing," but the right for who? For us, for other people, for society? Of course we can't just act recklessly, there are other people to consider whenever we choose a path of action, but that doesn't mean we need to ignore our desires too.

It's time to get out of the rut we have dug for ourselves. It can be comfortable there, "better the devil you know" is one expression used, but staying in one position too long isn't always good for us. Think about what happens when you sit in one position too long, you may get cramp or lose feeling in your leg, Still water becomes stagnant. Wood left in the damp rots. It's time to move, to change, to have some excitement. It doesn't have to be anything major, just something that clears aware some of the boring routine, the dreariness that can sneak uninvited into our lives without us even realising.

Have some fun, try something new, and never say never. Be  in charge of your our life, your own destiny. We have the ability to create what we want. There are many things outside of our control that have an effect on our lives, but there are many that we can control, and this is a reminder to do take back the control.

Rather than complaining that life isn't how we imagined it would be, are there any areas that we could change ourselves to make a difference? For example, if you would like to lose some weight, you are the one who has the ability to do something about it. You need to make small changes now to put into motion the start of the new you that you want to create.

Is your job perfect, what you thought you would be doing? If the answer is "no", are there any positives? Possibly you may say "it's not as bad as some I've had in the past." This is less straight forward then. You may need to decide whether to look for a different job that you think you may like better, or make the most out of the one that you have and find ways that you can improve your experience of it. Again, it's your choice. You are able to affect the situation if you want to. You can create a new experience.

So this could be the nudge we need to make changes for a new start, a new direction, or just better habits. We can create things, no matter how small, that will improve our lives, so now's the time to put these thoughts into action.
