Ever seen those sci-fi films that contain some slowing down or pausing of time during which our intrepid hero whizzes around setting up a nasty surprise for the bad guys and/or rescuing the day? Me too. And I often think it would be great to stop the world for real for a while so I can catch my breath and maybe stand a chance of getting one step ahead. How about you?
Well, going back to its roots in Latin, the word solstice translates as sun standing still, so maybe we can think of this year's summer solstice as the opportunity to do just that. Take a little time out, pause for breath and take stock. For me that means setting some serious time aside to reconnect with the Tarot. For you, it could be bareback horse riding on the beach, pottering in the pansies, lying on the sofa with the headphones on as Judas Priest and Sinatra rock your world. Okay, so maybe it's me again for Priest and Sinatra in the same afternoon, but you get the idea, don't you?
If it helps, think of it as therapy - it's amazing, startling even, how much just a short period of self-care and love can do for our outlook on life and our appetite for seizing the day and every opportunity that comes our way.
And yes, having the resolve to go find those opportunities - after all, we're all well aware we rarely get anything handed to us, but we also know that the things we work hardest for mean most. It's the same for our spiritual needs as our physical.
Tarot is often called the Fool's journey and after I've recharged my spiritual batteries I'm ready and willing to follow that fool. Want to come with me?
