Staying Happy
Here’s some tips for staying happy over the winter months as this time of year many folks start to feel a tad down. This is usually brought on by the shorter daylight hours and extra expenses of heating and lighting, never mind festive tidings looming!
My first tip for staying happy is exercise. It may be harder to stay motivated during the winter but exercise has been proven again and again to keep the dopamine levels up, therefore reducing the risk of depression. So force yourself to get out and do something active, you will feel better for it!
My 2nd tip is to eat well. What you eat can seriously affect your mood. It’s all too easy to cut corners but my advice would be don’t. Junk food and quick fixes are just that, junk. Lots of fresh fruit and veg will keep those blues at bay!
My 3rd tip is to keep in touch with loved ones and friends. Even if it's easier to stay under the duvet, we are all social creatures at heart and you will feel better for making the effort and so will your loved ones.
My final tip is to treat yourself to a duvet day once in a while. Watch some old films, have a lazy stress free day and let yourself relax. After all, it's cold outside!
