60 is the new 40
Turning 60 used to be called ‘becoming a pensioner’ but no longer. The official UK “pensioner” age is now 66 and a lot can happen in 6 year! It occurred to me that a fair few of my regular callers are approaching this once sticky number. So, I thought I would dedicate a blog to all those beautiful, vibrant, energetic women. Also, for those that are younger, you have a lot to look forward to!
So why is turning that 6 and 0 number so good? To sum it up in one word that others have shared with me: 60 is freedom!
Here are just a few comments that will resonate with those women who have reached this great milestone:
I’m able to wear anything I want – I honestly do not care what people think about me
I’m happy to wear less makeup and I know my inner beauty is all that matters
The fact that my children do not need me the way they used to is a relief
I’m able to reduce my possessions and focus on living more
I have given myself the power to make choices
I have become wise, but still youthful!
I find it easy to meet kindred spirits and create new friendships
No matter what’s thrown at me, I am content and peaceful!
Life experiences have taught me not to take things too dramatically
The best and biggest benefit of being over 60 is a sense of inner freedom; freedom to be me, to express my truth authentically and to be relaxed within my skin and my life. This sense of freedom was hard-earned. We’ve learned to be true to ourselves. We speak up and stand up for what matters to us. We have earned our assertiveness and we have found our voice.
What comes across very strongly here is a common factor regarding the natural ability to recognise inner beauty and gain a confidence that might not have been there in younger years.
Cheers to all you amazing woman out there!
Warm wishes
